Generous Living
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. - Matthew 6:33
What is Stewardship?
Webster’s Dictionary defines stewardship as;
- The careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care;
- An individual's responsibility to exercise care over entrusted possessions;
- The responsibility to manage a trust.
So, what does Christian Stewardship mean?
Christian stewardship is grateful and responsible use of God's gifts in the light of God's purpose as revealed in Jesus Christ. In other words, it is using all the gifts God has given us –time, talent, wealth, wisdom, and influence - to do the work God is calling us to do.
Stewardship cannot happen apart from discipleship. The goal of Christian stewardship is life-changing transformation. It is certainly about more than money, but it must include money. Our relationship to money and material possessions helps to define who we are, what we value, what we believe, and how we live.

What does our giving say about our faith?
At Mount Pisgah UMC, the Generous Living Ministry is committed to building a culture of generosity within the Mount Pisgah family. Through prayer, encouragement, and education, we work to train and equip disciples to grow in Biblical stewardship as a personal way of life. The ultimate goal is manage, multiply and share His gifts to recruit, train, equip and deploy disciples of Jesus Christ… here, there and everywhere.

The Big Move is Mount Pisgah’s statement of faith and a movement among God’s people to say that while others may live in fear, we individually and corporately have decided to live by faith. Because our faith is in God, we can have hope instead of fear; faith in the midst of despair; compassion in a world of apathy; and, joyful generosity knowing that our God always has and always will provide for our needs abundantly in every circumstance.
